What Is Hypnosis?

Hypnosis is a relaxed state of heightened awareness and focused concentration. It is a natural state that everyone is capable of entering, just like sleep. However it is not sleep. Whilst hypnosis physically appears to resembles sleep, the client is aware of what is going on while experiencing deep pleasant relaxation. When in a state of hypnosis you can hear all that is happening and you can stop at any time you wish. You are always in control and safe. When in hypnosis, suggestions are communicated to the subconscious mind. This is the part of the mind that influences what we think, how we feel, and the choices we make.

The subconscious mind is like a computer memory bank. It files every thought, feeling and emotion, and every memory that you have ever experienced, the way you perceived it at the time. It is where we store our beliefs and our values, and it controls all of our automatic bodily functions. Your memories, beliefs and values piece together your personality and they actively influence your day to day life.
